INTD Curricula & Courses Committee
Guidelines for Proposal Submitters

This page and these forms will be reviewed and updated once the University Interdisciplinary Courses Committee forms in Fall 2008.

Proposals requiring Undergraduate Catalog changes (click here for submission deadlines) require the following documents to be prepared and forwarded to the IISP Director:
INTD Course Proposals 100-level or 200-level courses open to sophomores Courses that satisfy general education requirements (content areas 1-4 or competencies) Other 200-level courses
New INTD Course (see note on Fall 2007 policy)

All categories require:

(1)An INTD approvals summary
(2) A Senate C&C Committee Curricular Action Form
(3) A course syllabus

Significant Revision of Existing INTD Course
Proposals or applications *not* requiring Undergraduate Catalog changes (click here for submission deadlines) require the following documents to be prepared and forwarded to the IISP Director:
INTD Course Proposals 100-level or 200-level courses open to sophomores Courses that satisfy general education requirements Other 200-level courses
New or Repeat of INTD Experimental Course (see note on Fall 2007 policy)

INTD 195, 196 (and occasionally INTD 282, INTD 291, INTD 297, INTD 298)

Experimental courses do not normally satisfy general education requirements. Any instructor wishing to propose a course for general education recognition should follow the "new INTD course" approval route above.

Note: First Year Experience, Honors Program, and Linkage through Language Program instructors are not required to make a new INTD experimental course proposal every semester/year. Within the existing catalog framework of INTD courses approved by Senate and offered by the First Year Experience Program (INTD 180, 182), the Honors Program (INTD 198), and Linkage through Language (INTD 222), topics and instructors will vary from year to year, and from instructor to instructor. The First Year Experience, Honors, and Linkage through Language Programs have procedures in place to ensure that their INTD course offerings under these catalog designations are consistent with prior approvals.
Individual student applications (click here for submission deadlines) require the following documents to be prepared and forwarded to the IISP Director:

Student Applications for INTD 193 or 293 foreign study credits
INTD 193 requires completion of an INTD foreign study credit application and the presentation of supporting documentation Not a matter for IISP. If the student wishes foreign study to be evaluated for general education purposes, please discuss with your advisor. INTD 293 requires completion of an INTD foreign study credit application and the presentation of supporting documentation
INTD independent studies INTD 197 requires completion of an independent study form Not relevant INTD 299 requires completion of an independent study form
INTD 296W thesis course Not relevant. This "W" course is open only to Individualized Majors with the prior permission of their advisors. An independent study form must be completed. Not relevant.
